On the night of July 23, Russia launched eight Shahed-type attack UAVs and a Kh-69 guided missile against Ukraine. In the Sumy region, Russia struck critical infrastructure, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia launched a Kh-69 guided missile and 8 Shaheds also from the Kursk direction. Units of mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Air Force were involved in repelling the Russian attack.

“Ukrainian air defense shot down 7 Russian Shahed drones. As a result of active counteraction, the Russian Kh-69 guided missile did not reach its target,” the Ukrainian Air Force writes.

Meanwhile, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reports a strike on critical infrastructure facilities of the Shostka community. Currently, the necessary services are eliminating the consequences of the Russian attack and conducting emergency repair work.

Russian shelling of Ukraine

Since the beginning of this year, Russia has intensified its attacks on the territory of Ukraine. As a result of 8 massive attacks carried out by the Russians against energy facilities, Ukraine lost 9 GW of production capacity of Ukrainian power plants.

Meanwhile, in an address to the allies, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, named five priority steps to urgently support Ukraine's energy sector. Among them, for example, is the strengthening of Ukraine's air defense.
