Russia strikes thermal power plant in Ukraine: Damage reported
On December 13, Russia carried out another massive terrorist attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. In particular, the thermal power plants of the private company DTEK were attacked.
“As a result of the Russian massive attack, the equipment of the TPP was seriously damaged. After the end of the shelling, the power engineers promptly began to eliminate the consequences and restore the equipment,” the statement says.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
This year, this is the 12th massive attack on the Ukrainian energy sector and the ninth massive attack on the company's energy enterprises.
In total, since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, DTEK's thermal power plants have been shelled more than 200 times.
Russian missile attack on Ukraine on December 13
On the morning of December 13, the Russian army launched another massive attack on Ukraine. According to Energy Minister German Galushchenko, the target of the Russian massive missile strike was the energy sector.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that according to preliminary reports, Russia launched 93 missiles. Ukrainian Air Force managed to shoot down 81 missiles, including 11 cruise missiles shot down by F-16s. The Russians also used almost 200 drones in this attack.
After the Russian missile attack, Ukraine increased the volume of scheduled blackouts. Three out of 6 phases have been applied, meaning that half of Ukrainians are now without power.
