Russia strikes shopping mall in Ukraine's Sumy, leaving dead and wounded

In Sumy, the building of a shopping and entertainment center was damaged in a Russian attack. There are casualties, and the number of dead and injured may rise, according to the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, the head of the Sumy City Military Administration, Serhii Kryvosheienko and Sumy Mayor Artem Kobzar.

At around 8 p.m., Russian forces deliberately targeted the grounds of a shopping and entertainment center in Sumy with a drone.
"One death has been confirmed so far. Preliminary information suggests the death toll may be higher," Hryhorov said.
There were also people injured, and the information is being clarified.
"Cars in the parking lot and the shopping mall building were damaged. A fire broke out," Hryhorov said.
All necessary emergency services are working at the site of the Russian strike. Efforts are underway to deal with the aftermath and carry out the rescue operation.
Hryhorov urged residents not to approach the site of the strike, as there is a risk of further attacks.

Hryhorov later reported that the death toll had risen to three, while two people were injured.

"Preliminary information indicates that 14 people have been injured. There are fatalities," he said.
Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration, added that a 16-year-old child was among the injured.
"Four of those injured are in serious condition, according to doctors," he said.

Hryhorov later clarified that three children were among those injured in the Russian attack on the shopping mall in Sumy.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on September 8, Russian forces attacked a passenger train in the Sumy region. Some people were not far enough from the train and suffered shrapnel wounds.
It was also reported that on August 27, Russia launched a massive attack on the Sumy community using guided aerial bombs. People were injured in the strikes on civilian infrastructure.
