Russia strikes ship carrying Ukrainian grain in Black Sea: One killed

On August 6, Russians struck yet another civilian vessel in the Black Sea. A Ukrainian sailor was killed, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, and the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
"Russia is constantly attacking civilian vessels in the Black Sea. Unfortunately, one person was killed, and three others were injured," Kiper confirms.
According to him, this time a dry cargo ship flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, the MERA QUEEN, was targeted by Russia. The ship was loaded with Ukrainian wheat.
Russians damaged the ship’s hull, causing a fire to break out on board.
Kiper also adds that the crew was quickly evacuated to shore. However, there were casualties.
Currently, all those affected are receiving the necessary assistance.
"Such attacks once again demonstrate the systematic nature and cynicism of Russian terror, as well as the fact that the aggressor poses a threat both to the lives of civilians and to global food security as a whole," Kiper concludes.
The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority officially confirms that a Ukrainian sailor was killed as a result of the latest Russian attack.
"On the evening of August 5, during yet another Russian attack, the civilian vessel MERA QUEEN, flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, was struck. A crew member, a Ukrainian citizen, was killed in the attack. The remaining sailors were brought ashore," the statement reads.
Incidentally, acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha recently stated that Ukraine could resume exports despite the blockade of the maritime corridor.
