Russian forces struck railway infrastructure in Kryvyi Rih. No casualties were reported as a result of the attack, according to Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways).
"Fortunately, no one was injured. An increased threat alert had been declared ahead of the attack, and people moved to shelters," the statement said.
It is noted that the enemy strike caused minor damage to the station. In particular, the blast wave damaged several windows and doors.
Ukrzaliznytsia said everything would be promptly restored and urged citizens to remain alert and follow railway staff instructions.
Strikes on Ukraine’s railway system
On April 13, Russian forces struck near a freight train locomotive in the Dnipropetrovsk region. No one was injured, as the train was stopped at the nearest station and about 500 passengers were evacuated.
In addition, on March 31, the railway station in Sloviansk came under attack, where workers at a locomotive depot were injured. One of them sustained serious injuries.
Earlier, on March 14, a Russian drone attacked a passenger train in the Sumy region. It hit the rear locomotive of a train running on the Smorodyne–Vorozhba route. Passengers and railway workers were not injured, as they were promptly evacuated.
Russian propaganda is spreading false claims that Ukrainian forces allegedly use civilian trains for military purposes. Russia does this to justify its systematic strikes.
