Russian forces struck Kyiv’s Southern Bridge with drones on Thursday, October 1. The attack disrupted both surface transport and metro service, according to a statement by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
"Two UAV strikes were recorded near the support structure of the Southern Bridge," he said.
Klitschko also reported that metro service and surface public transport across the bridge have been suspended for the time being.
The mayor added that specialists from Kyivavtoshliakhmist (a municipal utility enterprise - ed.) are currently inspecting the condition of the bridge following the attack.
Earlier today, a Russian drone struck a school in Kyiv, where 104 children were present at the time of the attack.
The students and staff were in a shelter. After emergency services gave the all-clear, everyone was evacuated, and the children were reunited with their parents.
In addition, Kyiv came under a Russian attack overnight. In the Solomianskyi district, a room on the first floor of a 16-story residential building caught fire, while a warehouse burned in the Obolonskyi district. One person was injured.
