Russian troops attacked Kurakhove in the Donetsk region on Friday, August 30. Russian shelling resulted in injuries, and there may be people under the rubble, according to the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin.

"This afternoon, the Russian forces attacked the town of Kurakhove with a Uragan multiple rocket launcher system. Direct hits were recorded on a three-story residential building, an administrative building, and a shop.

As of 1:50 p.m., 5 people were reported injured. According to the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, there are probably people under the rubble.

A rescue operation is underway at the site.

Situation in Donetsk region

In the Donetsk region, fighting continues in several frontline areas. The most difficult situation is in the areas of Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Kurakhove, and Chasiv Yar. Local authorities are urging residents to evacuate to safe regions of Ukraine.

Russian troops are shelling the settlements of the Donetsk region daily. On August 25, Russia attacked a hotel in Kramatorsk. At the time of the attack, foreign journalists were staying there - citizens of Ukraine, the United States, Latvia, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Reuters correspondents and a Polish journalist were injured in the attack. The shelling killed a British security adviser, Ryan Evans, who was one of six Reuters employees staying at the hotel.
