According to preliminary information, the Russians attacked Kupiansk with an ODAB-1500. The bomb hit near a store and a market, injuring 7 people: 5 women and 2 men.

Russian shelling also destroyed a two-story building in the market and damaged 12 trade stalls, a kindergarten, residential buildings, and an administrative building.

ODAB-1500

The ODAB-1500 (volume-detonating aerial bomb) is a high-explosive aerial bomb that uses the principle of a volumetric explosion. This weapon is a thermobaric munition that creates a powerful blast wave by burning a fuel-air mixture. The main characteristic of the ODAB-1500 is its ability to create significant overpressure over a large area.

The ODAB-1500 explosion takes place in 2 stages. First, after detonation, the munition sprays a large amount of explosive mixture in the air, and then this cloud ignites, leading to a large-scale explosion.

Shelling of Ukraine

On the night of October 23-24, Russian troops launched another attack on Ukraine. Russia struck Ukraine with 2 Kh-22 cruise missiles, 2 Kh-59 air-to-ground missiles, and 50 Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles and drones of unknown type.

By 8:30 a.m. Kyiv time, Ukraine's air defense forces neutralized 40 Russian drones, effectively repelling part of the Russian massive air attack.
