In Kharkiv, as a result of Russian ballistic missile strikes this morning on a densely populated area of the city, many people have been injured, and the number is rising. It is also known that there is one confirmed fatality, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

According to the latest data (as of 06:10 AM), in Kharkiv, 26 people have been reported injured, and one fatality has been confirmed.

Earlier, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the information indicated "one person was killed in their own apartment."

It was also noted that a child was among the injured.

The city was hit by Russian missile strikes, with "Russian missiles hitting a densely populated area of Kharkiv."

The mayor mentioned "a strike on a high-rise building" and added that "there may be people under the rubble."

He also informed that four Russian missile strikes had been recorded in the city.

"According to preliminary information, the strikes on Kharkiv were carried out with ballistic missiles equipped with cluster warheads. That’s why the affected area is very large," the mayor stated.

He further reported that, preliminarily, 15 residential buildings had been damaged by the strike. He added that the affected area was still being surveyed.

Additionally, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov clarified that the strikes targeted "high-rise residential buildings in the Osnovianskyi district" of the city.

The head of the Regional Military Administration later reported that, among those injured by the missile strike in Kharkiv, there were two children.

"The number of those injured in the morning missile strikes on Kharkiv has increased to 24 people. Among the injured are two children: 4 and 2.8 years old," Oleh Syniehubov said at 06:26 AM. The official added that one person had been killed.

According to the mayor, over 20 apartment buildings and more than 30 private homes in Kharkiv were damaged as a result of the strike.

By 06:46 AM, the number of injured had sharply increased - Mayor Terekhov reported that the total had reached 40.

At 07:10, the mayor reported that the number of wounded in Kharkiv continues to rise – 54 people so far.

Meanwhile, the head of the Regional Military Administration, Syniehubov, writes online about 51 injured.

"As of this moment, 13 people have been hospitalized in city hospitals, including two children. Four people are in serious condition. Doctors are providing all necessary assistance to the victims," the official said.

In Kharkiv, as a result of a missile attack, a fire broke out at a civilian enterprise, said the spokesperson of the State Emergency Service in Kharkiv region, Yevhen Vasylenko, in a comment to Suspilne media.

He added that three fire sources are being extinguished at the site, covering an area of 500 square meters.

Morning attacks on Ukraine on April 18

Explosions were heard almost simultaneously in the cities of Kharkiv and Dnipro early in the morning.

Earlier, the Air Force had warned of a potential missile strike by Russian forces. The Russian missile movement was recorded toward Dnipro.

In addition to missiles, Russian forces also used kamikaze drones in the attacks - a Shahed drone strike on Sumy killed one person and injured another.
