Russia strikes foreign ship in Ukrainian port, killing and injuring crew

Russia struck a merchant ship that was in a Ukrainian port and was unloading mineral fertilizers. A fire broke out after the superstructure was hit, and 3 sailors were killed, according to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.
The vessel was flying the Togolese flag and was docked in port at the time of the Russian attack, where mineral fertilizers were being unloaded. The strike hit the ship’s superstructure, causing a fire to break out there.
Sailors killed and injured
3 crew members were killed as a result of the Russian strike.
Another 5 sailors were injured. All the victims were taken to the hospital, where they are receiving the necessary medical care.
The Ministry emphasizes that such attacks pose a danger to international shipping, undermine the stability of global trade, and threaten global food security.
On June 22, Russia attacked the merchant ship VICTRESS, which is owned by Türkiye and was sailing under the Panamanian flag, with drones.
A fire broke out on board, killing a 58-year-old cook, while eight other sailors were evacuated on a liferaft.
Ships flying the flags of Palau and Belize were also damaged in the same attack.
On June 19, Russian drones struck two civilian vessels simultaneously in the Black Sea, one flying the Panamanian flag and the other the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
One crew member was killed, and two others were injured on the first vessel; on the second, three sailors sustained minor injuries.
