Russia strikes first responders in Nikopol, then targets medics (photo)

On the night of June 2, Russian forces carried out a targeted strike on a rescue unit in Nikopol, the Dnipropetrovsk region. After medics arrived at the scene, the enemy launched a second strike, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports.
In particular, the strike on the rescue unit damaged windows, walls, and the entrance to a shelter where personnel were located.
"Two civilian men were injured due to the enemy shelling. Emergency responders hid the injured in the shelter and waited for the medics. Upon arrival of emergency medical personnel, the Russians struck again, injuring the ambulance driver. The medics were forced to return to their station on their own," the State Emergency Service of Ukraine added.
After the shelling, rescue workers transported the two injured individuals to a medical facility.
Shelling of Nikopol
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has regularly attacked Ukrainian territory with various types of missiles, UAVs, artillery, and guided aerial bombs. Frontline regions and settlements suffer the most from the shelling.
In early May, during a so-called ceasefire on the front announced by Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Russian troops attacked the Nikopol district in the Dnipropetrovsk region, injuring one person. At that time, Nikopol itself, as well as the Pokrovska, Chervonohryhorivska, Myrivska, and Marhanets communities, came under fire.
