Russian troops attacked one of the important power supply facilities in the Koriukivka district of the Chernihiv region, and a repair crew was also hit, according to Chernihivoblenergo electricity distribution and supply company.
"Yesterday, Russia carried out another attack on the Chernihiv region's power grid. As a result, one of the important power supply facilities in the Koriukivka district was damaged. Tens of thousands of consumers were left without electricity," Chernihivoblenergo says.
Restoration of the power facility began on the same day. At first, the work had to be postponed until the evening because a reconnaissance drone was flying over the facility for a long time. When the security situation normalized and the work finally began, the Russians launched several more drones at the same location.
Fortunately, the personnel were not injured—the power engineers managed to take cover, but their vehicle was significantly damaged.
"In such conditions, our power engineers have had to work almost every day recently. The Russians do not allow them to approach damaged power supply facilities, launch repeated strikes during emergency repair work, and hunt down their equipment. The price of electricity is rising," the company adds.

Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy sector
Over the past few weeks, Russian troops have launched a series of massive strikes on Ukraine's energy sector using strike drones and cruise missiles. In addition, targeted strikes on critical infrastructure continue unabated.
In order to more quickly eliminate the consequences of the Russian strikes, the government has created a Coordination Headquarters for Energy Protection and has also adopted a number of decisions to speed up the protection of critical facilities.
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) also noted that Russian troops have significantly changed their tactics of striking Ukrainian energy facilities. The enemy is primarily trying to create a so-called buffer zone in the border area.
