On June 3, Russia hit central Sumy. As a result, civilians were killed and there are many injured victims, the Sumy Regional Military Administration and Acting Mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar, report.

Today, a Russian attack struck the center of Sumy. An explosion occurred in the central part of the city.

Russia targeted civilian transport - due to the strike, two vehicles burned out, one person was killed, and several others were injured.

Later, reports confirmed that one person had died due to the attack. Many injured were being transported to medical facilities in the regional center.

Rescue workers and emergency services are operating at the site. The extent of the damage is being clarified.

"Rescuers and emergency services are working at the scene. Information on the scale of destruction and the number of victims is being updated," wrote the Acting head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

As of 10:23 a.m. Kyiv time, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, around 20 people were injured in the enemy attack on Sumy. Some of the victims are in critical condition.

Reports indicate that two people have died.

"Preliminary data shows that around 9:00 a.m., the regional center was hit by five long-range MLRS strikes," the statement reads.

As of 10:51 a.m. Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that three people have been killed due to the Russian shelling.

According to the update, a shell hit a roadway in one of the city districts, igniting a car. The resulting fire was quickly extinguished by emergency crews.

In another neighborhood, a multi-story residential building was damaged, though no structural collapse occurred.

In total, the attack damaged:

  • 3 private homes;
  • a warehouse building;
  • a garage;
  • 4 vehicles;
  • one hospital building.

Inspections of the affected areas are still underway.

Attack on Sumy

On the afternoon of May 20, Russian forces launched a missile strike on the city of Shostka in the Sumy region. According to the regional administration, infrastructure at one of the local enterprises was damaged, and an emergency rescue operation was launched in the city.

Furthermore, on the night of May 20, the Russian army attacked Bilopillia and Yunakivka communities in the Sumy region with drones and aerial bombs. The strike on one civilian site caused a large-scale fire.
