Russian troops have reduced the intensity of combat over the past two days, but this does not indicate any change in their intentions, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces grouping, said on the Day.LIVE broadcast.

“There were several dozen combat clashes, now it’s again fewer than ten. But this is absolutely temporary. They will try again, they will keep pushing,” Trehubov said.

According to him, Russia’s General Staff continues to focus on occupying Donbas and intensifying efforts in other directions.

The spokesperson also said that Russian forces are maintaining pressure in the Sumy and Kharkiv directions, including continued attempts to advance toward Kupiansk and create a so-called “control zone along the border.

Russia’s offensive

Ukraine’s military intelligence previously reported that Russia is preparing a new offensive in southeastern Ukraine, deploying strategic reserves. Around 20,000 additional troops are expected to reinforce the occupying forces.

The Center for Countering Disinformation also stated that the Kremlin is considering at least three scenarios for the war in Ukraine, ranging from continuing hostilities to freezing the conflict and launching hybrid aggression against NATO countries.

At the same time, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Brigadier General Pavlo Palisa, noted that Russian losses in Donbas have tripled, while territorial gains remain minimal.

According to him, despite ambitious plans for 2026, Russia currently lacks sufficient forces to achieve its goals.
