Russia shells residential buildings in Sumy, casualties reported
During a Russian airstrike in Sumy, explosions were heard, and there were hits on residential buildings, according to the head of the city's military administration, Oleksii Drozdenko, Suspilne, and Ukrainian Air Force.
"As a result of the enemy attack, there have been strikes on residential buildings," Drozdenko said in a post.
According to him, an emergency response center will begin operations at 9:00 a.m. in School No. 27.
Acting Mayor of Sumy, Kobzar, reported that one person was hospitalized after a strike on a residential building.
Before the explosions, the Air Force had warned of an attack by enemy drones and the threat of ballistic missiles.
According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Russia struck the private residential sector of the city with Shahed drones. The consequences of the hostile attack are still being clarified. Preliminary reports indicate, unfortunately, that there are civilian casualties. Emergency rescue services are currently on the scene.
Earlier, on the morning of October 20, Russian forces targeted an energy facility in the Sumy region, leaving over 100 settlements without power.
