Russia has announced its readiness to transfer over 2,200 more bodies of fallen Ukrainian servicemen to Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense reports.

In particular, the Russian Ministry stated that it has completed another stage of the transfer of the fallen Ukrainian soldiers' bodies, in accordance with the agreements reached on June 2 in Istanbul.

According to their statement, 1,248 bodies, which Russia claims belong to members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, were handed over to Ukraine today.

As part of the same operation, Ukraine, according to Russian data, returned the bodies of 51 deceased Russian servicemen.

In total, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Moscow has already transferred 6,060 bodies to Kyiv as part of what it calls a large-scale humanitarian action.

Reports also indicate that Ukraine has transferred 78 bodies of Russian servicemen, and at this stage, the Russian side claims it is ready to transfer another 2,239 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers.

Prisoner exchange

During the second round of negotiations in Istanbul, Ukraine and Russia agreed on a second large-scale prisoner exchange. The parties reached an agreement on the return of the wounded, the seriously ill, and prisoners aged 18–25.

Prisoner exchanges took place on June 9, 10, 12, and 14, and yesterday, June 15, marked the fourth stage of repatriation efforts following the negotiations in Istanbul.

Today, June 16, another 1,245 bodies of the fallen were returned to Ukraine. According to the Russian side, they belong to Ukrainian citizens, including servicemen.
