Russia says it is ready to resume Ukraine peace talks, but sets new condition

Russia is ready to resume peace talks to end the war against Ukraine. However, the Russian authorities want to consider proposals from only one side, said Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, according to Izvestia.
According to the Russian official, Moscow is currently prepared to discuss specifically the new US proposals.
In addition, Karasin assured that the Kremlin sees no obstacles to holding a meeting with the US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
He also claims that Russia is ready to resume peace talks if the United States is interested in practical results.
"We are always ready for meetings and negotiations. Therefore, this also applies to Kushner and Witkoff. I see no obstacles to holding such a meeting, regardless of what Zelenskyy has proposed and what he has not proposed," Karasin added with bravado.
According to him, the key indicator of the effectiveness of a new round of peace talks will be its concrete results.
Ukraine has long been seeking the resumption of peace talks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reminds Russia and the world virtually every day that he wants to end Russia's war as soon as possible, but this cannot be done without a decision by Vladimir Putin.
Thus, on August 11, Kyiv submitted new proposals to Washington that will help bring the head of the Kremlin to the negotiating table.
According to the head of state, the United States can play a key role in this process.
Incidentally, it recently became known that Witkoff and Kushner are already planning their first visit to Ukraine.
