Ukraine outlines proposals for US to help bring war to an end - Zelenskyy

Ukraine has presented the United States with proposals for further steps aimed at increasing pressure on Russia and helping bring the war closer to an end, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening video address.
Zelenskyy said he had received a report from Ukraine's negotiating team and that Kyiv had already conveyed its proposals to Washington.
He stated that the proposals had been passed to the US side.
According to Zelenskyy, the United States could help strengthen Ukraine's defenses, particularly in the field of air defense.
At the same time, Kyiv expects Washington to use its influence to increase pressure on Russia. Zelenskyy argued that such efforts are necessary to change Moscow's approach and prevent further prolongation of the war.
He said the United States could both help bolster Ukraine's defense, especially air defense, and pressure Russia to focus on ending the war rather than dragging it out.
Meanwhile, the US is preparing options to increase pressure on Russia. A bipartisan sanctions bill targeting Russia and Iran, which was previously approved by the Senate, has been introduced in the House of Representatives.
The legislation includes sanctions against Russia's largest banks, restrictions on investments in Russia, and measures targeting the Kremlin's so-called shadow fleet. It also authorizes tariffs of up to 500% on Russian goods.
