A fire broke out in Voskresensk near Moscow at the site of one of Russia’s largest chemical plants, which is strategic for the production of Russian weapons, according to OSINT Telegram channels.

The incident concerns the chemical plant Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers.

“According to our information, the fire engulfed the sulfuric acid workshop. In nearby areas, a strong smell of burning with a distinctive ‘chemical’ aftertaste can be felt,” the outlet reports.

Footage showing Voskresensk from above reveals smoke hanging over the city. It is reported that local residents are complaining of a sore throat and stinging eyes due to the fire at the chemical plant.

“It should be noted that this plant is a very important link in the chain of explosives production and in servicing the occupiers’ aviation,” the statement says.

It has also been reported that another fire occurred in Russia on the evening of January 16. According to Telegram channels, a substation is on fire in Serpukhov, Moscow region. As a result, half of the city is without power.

Recent incidents in Russia

A fire broke out in Rostov, Russia, in recent days as a result of a drone attack. Storage tanks containing petroleum products at a plant caught fire, and an industrial facility was also damaged.

Earlier, on January 12, a power plant in the city of Novocherkassk, Russia’s Rostov region, was attacked, sparking a fire.

In addition, an oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai also came under drone attack. The facility in question is located in Slavyansk-on-Kuban.
