On the night of April 5, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of key Russian military and infrastructure targets. Among the damaged sites was the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery, which erupted in a large-scale fire after the attack, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, the attack targeted the infrastructure of the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia, which supplies fuel to the critically important Moscow region and the Russian army.
The refinery has an annual processing capacity of 17 million tons of raw materials. The plant produces over 50 types of products, including aviation and diesel fuel used by the Russian military-industrial complex and occupation forces.
Separately, Ukrainian forces confirmed a fire following another strike on the infrastructure of the Primorsk port on the Baltic Sea. This port is one of the largest in Russia for the transport of petroleum products.
In addition, a storage facility for aviation equipment in Saky, in temporarily occupied Crimea, was hit.
The Defense Forces also struck enemy personnel concentrations in the areas of Berezove and Novomykolaivka in the Dnipro region, Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia region, and Yalynske in Donetsk region.
The full extent of the damage and enemy losses is being assessed.
In recent weeks, unmanned systems have repeatedly delivered effective strikes on key Russian targets in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. For example, in early April, UAVs in coordination with the Main Intelligence Directorate struck an An-72P aircraft in Crimea and destroyed a warehouse storing Russian Orion strike drones.
UAV operators, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, also targeted the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant, halting production there. At the end of March, Ukrainian forces on the Donetsk front disrupted the launch of Gerbera drones and destroyed a Tor air defense system.
