Russia's losses in Ukraine as of September 18: +1,100 troops
In the past 24 hours, from September 17 to 18, Russian losses on the front amounted to 1,130 soldiers, 25 artillery systems, and 45 vehicles, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to September 18, 2024, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 637,010 (+1,130) troops;
- tanks - 8,691 (+6);
- troop-carrying AFVs - 17,080 (+3);
- artillery systems - 18,154 (+25);
- MLRS - 1,188;
- anti-aircraft systems - 947;
- aircraft - 369;
- helicopters - 328;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 15,354 (+25);
- cruise missiles - 2,592;
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 24,784 (+45);
- special equipment - 3,109 (+18).

As a reminder, According to ISW, the Ukrainian Defense Forces achieved success near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. Meanwhile, Russian forces advanced in two areas of the Donetsk region.
During the past night, Russian forces launched Shahed-type drones towards Ukraine. Explosions were heard in the Kyiv region, and air defense systems were activated. An air raid alert was also declared in Kyiv.
Additionally, explosions were reported in the Sumy region, where enemy drones were detected.
