Frontline situation

Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed several important Russian targets, including the command center of the Akhmat drone unit and a logistics hub. In the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a concentration of Russian forces at the Prymorskyi Posad training ground near the town of the same name.

Meanwhile, Russian troops are attempting to replicate the strategy they previously used successfully in Pokrovsk for their offensive on Kostyantynivka, according to ISW.

Russia's tactical aviation is the biggest problem in deterring Russian troops in the Pokrovsk direction. January 2026 saw an intensification of Russian tactical aviation operations in the direction of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. Russian troops increased the number of guided aerial bomb strikes in the Pokrovsk direction by 65%.
