Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 25: 470 troops and about 30 artillery systems destroyed
As of Friday morning, August 25th, Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine amounted to 470 occupiers, with the total number of casualties in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion standing at 259,630 military personnel. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 28 artillery systems and 10 enemy armored vehicles, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The overall Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 25, 2023, are estimated as follows:
- Personnel: approximately 259,630 (+470);

- Armored fighting vehicles: 8,521 (+10);
- Artillery systems: 5,361 (+28);
- Multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS): 724 (+1);
- Anti-aircraft missile systems: 495 (+1);
- Aircraft: 315;
- Helicopters: 316;
- Tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs): 4,356 (+12);
- Cruise missiles: 1,409 (+3);
- Ships/boats: 18;
- Vehicles and tankers: 7,790 (+17);
- Specialized equipment: 802 (+1).
Frontline situation
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian troops continue to advance in the direction of Melitopol. Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 5 artillery units at enemy firing positions in the past day.
According to a new report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian forces advanced north of Bakhmut on August 24th and captured Russian forward positions. Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced in the western part of the Zaporizhzhia region and approached the second line of the occupiers' defense.
