Russia's Kalashnikov Concern hires schoolchildren for summer jobs: What is known

In Russia, the Kalashnikov Concern (Russian arms manufacturer - ed.) is seeking new employees among schoolchildren aged 16 and older. They are being offered summer jobs, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation on Telegram.
"The Kalashnikov Concern, which produces weapons and ammunition, is recruiting schoolchildren aged 16 and older for summer jobs,” the Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) stated.
Teenagers are being offered salaries starting at 25,000 rubles (approximately $ 300) and training in professions such as milling machine operator, locksmith, and foundry worker.
According to the Center, this initiative by Kalashnikov is part of broader efforts to militarize children and teenagers in Russia. For example, the Alabuga special economic zone, where Shahed drones are produced, is already recruiting high school students into labor brigades.
Additionally, Russian schools have introduced a mandatory course that teaches children how to assemble and operate drones.
"By involving teenagers in work at defense industry enterprises, the Russian authorities aim to create a reserve workforce for defense plants already during school years, as these facilities are facing a severe labor shortage. Moreover, with such measures, the Kremlin also seeks to attract potential contract soldiers to replenish the army," the CCD emphasized.
Teenagers assembling Shaheds
Back in 2023, the Protokol outlet reported that students at Russia’s Alabuga Polytechnic College began assembling Shahed kamikaze drones.
Teenagers aged 15 to 17 were primarily involved in the drone assembly process.
