Russia's foreign minister urges Rubio to halt arms supplies to Ukraine

On July 23 in Manila, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held another round of talks, with Russia's war against Ukraine among the main topics discussed, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to Lavrov, he and Rubio discussed a broad range of bilateral and international issues.
The Kremlin ally said he had informed the US representative about the "real" state of affairs in the Russia-Ukraine war. However, he did not disclose any details.
Lavrov also made another demand regarding Ukraine during the meeting with Rubio. This time, he called on Ukraine's allies to stop supplying weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Russia's foreign minister also complained that this was unacceptable for the Russian side.
"Lavrov once again reaffirmed the Russian side's readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict and its commitment to the proposals put forward by the American side during the meeting between Putin and Trump in Anchorage," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The sides also focused on the "normalization of the operating conditions" for Russian and US diplomatic missions.
In addition, the statement said that Rubio and Lavrov agreed to "continue contacts at the level of the foreign ministries." This primarily concerns the participation of the two countries in the work of international organizations.
A day earlier, Putin’s team also took an interest in Trump's latest prediction about Ukraine and Russia.
Earlier reports explained why the Kremlin leader had abruptly changed his rhetoric on Ukraine.
Separately, it emerged how Putin plans to put Ukraine in a difficult position before NATO.
