Russian terror against the civilian population in Ukraine undermines the efforts of the parties to achieve peace. Moreover, it contradicts Russia's own statements, according to Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

Commenting on Russia's overnight drone attack on Kyiv, he noted that the Russians deliberately targeted residential areas and peaceful civilians who were sleeping in their homes. As a result of the attack, three people were killed, including a father and his five-year-old daughter. Another eight people were injured.

"This comes after similar attacks in Kropyvnytsky, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and other cities in recent days. Russia's systematic and deliberate terror against civilians contradicts its own statements about peace and undermines peace efforts by the US and other partners," Sybiha emphasized.

He stressed that Ukraine needs additional air defense systems to protect its population from Russian terror, as well as increased pressure on the enemy to end the war.

Ukraine agrees to a 30-day ceasefire

On March 11, a meeting took place between US and Ukrainian delegations in Saudi Arabia. Sybiha and other high-ranking officials represented Ukraine's side.

As a result of the meeting, Ukraine agreed to a full 30-day ceasefire, with the possibility of an extension. However, when US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin later discussed the matter, the Kremlin leader agreed only to a partial ceasefire. This included excluding strikes on energy infrastructure and in the Black Sea. However, on the evening of March 18, Russian drones once again began attacking Ukraine.
