Russia reports explosions near airbase where MiG-31Ks are based
In the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation, reports emerged of aerial attacks involving drones and the activation of air defense systems in the area. Explosions were heard near the Savasleyka airbase, where MiG-31K aircraft, potential carriers of Kinzhal missiles, may be stationed, citing the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, and Russian media outlets.
Videos of the drone attack and air defense response were shared online. The drones were reportedly spotted last night between the settlements of Veletma and Savasleyka, where the military airbase is located.
Additionally, the Telegram channel Typical Kulebyaki reported that local residents mentioned 10 hits in the vicinity of the airbase.
It was also claimed that access to the village and the town of Kulebaki was subsequently blocked.
According to the local governor, air defense and electronic warfare systems were operating in the Kulebaki municipal district this morning due to the presence of drones.
"Necessary operational and emergency services are on site. All measures are being taken to minimize the consequences," the Russian official wrote on Telegram.
He added that, according to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.
