Russia received new aircraft this year, but production barely covered losses - Defence24
Russia has delivered 24 new combat aircraft to its military this year. However, this production barely covers the losses, reports Defence24.
According to Defence24, over the year, the Russian Aerospace Forces received:
- Su-34 - 10 units;
- Su-35S - 6 units;
- Su-57 - 6 units;
- Su-30 - 2 units.
At the end of December, the Russians announced the latest deliveries of the Su-34 and Su-57. However, according to media reports, photo and video materials suggest that these are just individual units rather than large-scale batches.
At the same time, during this period, Russia lost at least 23 units of aviation equipment:
- Su-34 - 9 units;
- Su-25 - 4 units;
- Su-27 - 3 units;
- Su-35S - 2 units.
In addition, two A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft, a Yak-130, and a heavy unmanned combat aircraft, the S-70 Okhotnik, were destroyed.
Defence24 reports that most of these Russian losses were the result of accidents, wear and tear, and friendly fire.
On June 9, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported that a strike had been carried out on a Russian Su-57 aircraft at the Akhtubinsk airfield. Additionally, on March 9, drones attacked an aircraft factory in Taganrog, damaging a hangar with an A-50 aircraft.
