Russia pushes to expand control in Ukraine's Sumy and Kharkiv regions

In the Chernihiv region, along the border with Russia, there is currently no deployment of Russian infantry units. However, they have been observed in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, according to Andrii Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Russia strikes the Chernihiv region the least and the Sumy and Kharkiv regions the most.
"At the same time, in the Chernihiv region, along the border with Russia, fortunately, no Russian attempts to deploy infantry units have been recorded. The same cannot be said for the other two regions," Demchenko says.
He notes that Russian attempts to expand their zone of control occur quite frequently.
"First and foremost, when it comes to the defense zones where State Border Guard Service units are stationed, these are the Shostka and Konotop districts, as well as the Yunakivka community," the spokesperson clarifies.
The most challenging situation is along the borders of the Kharkiv region, particularly in the Vovchansk community. There, Russian daily attempts to expand its zone of control continue unabated, and here Russia consistently operates using infantry groups, preceded by numerous attacks.
Frontline situation
For two days in a row, Russian troops have attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses on several sections of the front simultaneously, but they have failed almost everywhere. The heaviest fighting is taking place in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions and near the Donetsk region.
At the same time, over the past few days, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have advanced in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. In addition, they have thwarted a series of Russian offensive operations.
The Ukrainian military has also achieved positive results during counteroffensive operations in the Lyman area.
