Russia preparing new information operations against Ukrainian refugees in Europe
Russia is preparing new propaganda operations, particularly targeting Ukrainian refugees in Europe. The goal is to persuade people who left the country due to the war not to return, according to Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to Skibitsky, Russia is already carrying out these measures, for example, in Italy, where it uses its accomplices—so-called journalists from the Ukrainian occupied territories—to justify the genocidal war against Ukraine.
“These are presentations of various 'artistic and documentary' books supposedly about Ukraine's crimes in Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” he said.
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) representative also emphasized that Russians are actively working with our citizens who have moved to European countries due to the war started by Russia.
“This is a very powerful effort that the Russians have launched: creating various societies, educating children, churches—methods used to make our Ukrainians lose their identity and, even more, to ensure they never return to us (to Ukraine—ed.),” Skibitsky explained.
Russian disinformation against Ukraine
Russia systematically conducts information campaigns aimed at discrediting Ukraine and its military forces.
Russians also regularly spread their disinformation among Ukrainians to intimidate the civilian population and against Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
In May, DIU representative Vadym Skibitskyi spoke about Russia’s "three-tiered" plan for destabilizing Ukraine, which consisted of military, disinformation, and international components.
