The Russian leadership plans to form 10 new divisions by the end of the year. Two have already been created, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

According to Syrskyi, he held a meeting today to review the performance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in July.

He stated that it was a very intense month. In the east, the Russian aggressor attempted to advance along nearly the entire line of contact.

"Our troops bravely repelled enemy attacks, which relied on the 'death by a thousand cuts' tactic, using small assault groups for offensive actions," the Commander-in-Chief noted.

He reported that the most difficult situation is in the Pokrovsk, Dobropillia, and Novopavlivka directions. At the same time, there have been successes in liberating territory in Sumy region in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna direction. Fighting also continues in the Kursk region.

Syrskyi also noted that Russian losses in July amounted to over 33,200 personnel, which is 800 more than the previous month.

"Despite this, the enemy is increasing its grouping by 9,000 personnel each month. The Russian leadership plans to form 10 new divisions by the end of the year; two have already been created," the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Therefore, he said, "we have no choice but to continue mobilization measures, improve combat training, and strengthen the drone component of our forces."

Situation on the front

According to the General Staff, 61 combat engagements have taken place on the front since the beginning of August 5. The epicenter of the fighting is the Pokrovsk direction.

According to the US-based Institute for the Study of War, the Russian army is attempting to launch attacks in the Sumy direction. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched counterattacks near Pokrovsk.

As reported by the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of forces, the heaviest fighting on the front is currently taking place near Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, as capturing this city remains one of the main objectives of Russian forces.
