Russia moving troops from Sumy direction to south of Ukraine

In the Sumy direction, border guards recorded a significant decrease in Russian attacks. At the same time, the State Border Service confirmed the transfer of enemy forces to other directions, including the south, according to State Border Service of Ukraine spokesperson Andrii Demchenko.
"Our units in the Khotyn and Yunakivka communities note that the number of Russian attacks or actions has significantly decreased compared to the initial period when the Russians were trying to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory," Demchenko says.
He adds that Russian troops are gradually withdrawing their accumulated forces and redeploying them, in particular, to the southern directions.
The spokesperson also said that the units of the Sumy Border Guard Detachment and the Steel Border Brigade were recently visited by the head of the State Border Guard Service, Serhii Deineko, who familiarized himself with the situation and commended the personnel for their steadfastness in battles with the Russians.
Situation in the Sumy region
At the end of July, it became known that the Ukrainian Defense Forces had liberated the border village of Kindrativka in the Sumy region.
In August, the Ukrainian military liberated and cleared the village of Bezsalivka from Russian occupiers. The settlement is located in the Sumy region near the border with Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to thwart the Russian army's plan in the Sumy region and push back the enemy in this direction.
According to British intelligence, Russian troops have not achieved any notable successes in the Sumy region over the past two weeks.
Meanwhile, Russian troops have intensified their strikes on Sumy and the region. Last night, they launched a series of strikes on critical and industrial infrastructure in the Sumy region, resulting in a large-scale fire.
