Estonia is preparing to disconnect from the Russian energy system. In this regard, the country is preparing for provocations by Russia. This was stated by Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets, ERR reports.

Estonia has completed preparations to desynchronize its energy system from the Russian one, but Läänemets noted that possible provocations by Russia remain among the key challenges.

The Estonian Minister of the Interior said that the switchover had been carefully prepared, so the process would be unnoticeable to citizens. At the same time, he warned that the country's energy supply would be more vulnerable during this period.

"Our neighbor may try to take advantage of the situation. We have to be prepared for possible hybrid threats - from cyberattacks to physical interference, as well as the spread of disinformation. There may even be attempts to damage the energy infrastructure," said Läänemets.

He also emphasized that the Estonian police and security services are taking measures to ensure order and prevent incidents during the desynchronization.

The Minister emphasized that synchronization with the European energy system is an important step for Estonia, as well as for Latvia and Lithuania, as it eliminates significant dependence and the possibility of influence from Russia.

Earlier Lithuania strengthened the security of the power line with Poland ahead of disconnection from the power grid shared with Russia and Belarus.
