Russia may launch offensive: Expert on most likely scenario in Kursk direction
Russia will likely try to launch an offensive in the Kursk direction soon. During the maneuverable defense, the Russians will suffer considerable losses, believes the former spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Vladyslav Seleznov, according to RBC-Ukraine article “Vulnerable spot: How Kursk operation affected frontline and risks for Ukrainian army”.
According to the latest data, Russia has already transferred 60 thousand troops from Ukraine to Kursk. There are conscripts from Moscow and Leningrad districts, Tyumen, the Far East, and other regions.
“The day before, Vladimir Putin called the ousting of Ukrainian forces a sacred duty, and everything indicates that the Russians will soon go on the offensive,” the expert added.
According to him, the enemy is trying to push back the Ukrainian forces and “sometimes even has some success,” but not so much.
Seleznov notes that Ukraine does not plan to keep control of the Kursk region permanently. Officials also say that Kyiv does not need other people's lands.
“Next will be a maneuverable defense. Russia will suffer much greater losses when forced to attack our prepared lines. The Kursk offensive is a component of the 2024 defense operation,” Seleznov adds.
