Zelenskyy: We plan to hold seized Russian territories until we force Putin to negotiate
Ukraine will hold the seized territories of Russia until it forces Russian President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement in an interview with NBC News.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine will "hold" the territory as it is an integral part of his "victory plan" to end the war, adding that he will present this proposal to international partners such as the United States.
"For now, we need it," he said about the territory that Ukraine currently controls from Russia.
At the same time, Zelenskyy stated that he cannot discuss whether Ukraine plans to attempt to capture more Russian territory.
"I will not tell, I’m sorry, I can’t speak about it. It’s like the beginning of our, this, Kursk operation. With all respect, I can’t speak about it, I think the success is very close to surprise," he said.
Fighting in the Kursk region
Since the beginning of August, an offensive operation by the Ukrainian Defense Forces has been ongoing in the Kursk region. Recently, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the Ukrainian forces have advanced another 2 km in the Kursk region.
Since the start of the operation, Ukraine has taken control of more than 100 settlements in the Kursk region.
