Russia may be able to produce up to 2,700 Shahed strike drones per month. In addition, Russia is manufacturing a large number of decoy drones, according to Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense (HUR), in an interview with Novyny.LIVE.

"They have ramped up production of the Geran-2, which is the standard Shahed (drone - ed.)… with this modification and a warhead, they can now produce up to 2,700 per month. In addition, a significant number of decoys without warheads are being produced,” he said.

Yusov added that the Russian forces use hundreds of Shaheds in combined attacks alongside missiles.

"Massive strikes are a serious challenge for our air defense and missile defense forces. They are also a challenge for our partners, who need to help us protect Ukrainian skies," emphasized the HUR representative.

Massive Russian strikes

Previously, the HUR reported that Russia plans to increase production of various types of drones, including Shaheds. According to HUR representative Vadym Skibitskyi, Russia aims to produce 79,000 drones in 2025.

British intelligence noted that in July, the Russian army set a new record for drone strikes on Ukraine, launching 6,200 UAVs in a single month.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hinted at a new format for defending Ukraine’s skies, but a signal from the US is needed.
