Russia may assist China in preparing for attack on Taiwan - Bloomberg
Representatives of the US intelligence believe that Russia and China are cooperating more closely on military matters, including a potential invasion of Taiwan, informs Bloomberg.
"We see China and Russia, for the first time, exercising together in relation to Taiwan and recognizing that this is a place where China definitely wants Russia to be working with them, and we see no reason why they wouldn’t," said Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence.
Haines also added that intelligence assessments indicate "increasing cooperation in the ‘no-limits’ partnership” between Russia and China across virtually all sectors of society, including:
- Political,
- Economic,
- Military,
- Technological.
"Certainly it’s a possibility. The question of just how likely it is, I think differs depending on the scenario," she added.
China-Russia cooperation
Since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, China has extended cooperation with Russia.
Despite publicly stating neutrality in Russia's war against Ukraine, China has not condemned Moscow's actions. Meanwhile, Chinese companies continue to supply Russia with dual-use goods that can be used for weapon production.
The US has repeatedly urged China not to provide military assistance to Russia. Additionally, Washington has promised to strengthen sanctions against Beijing if it provides weapons to Russia.
