Russia massively strikes Ukraine's Sumy region: 6 people injured, destruction reported

On the morning of Tuesday, February 17, Russian troops launched strikes on the Sumy region. Currently, there are reports of 6 civilian casualties and destruction, according to Artem Kobzar, acting mayor of Sumy, and Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

"As a result of today's Russian strikes, six people are known to have been injured. Preliminary reports indicate that their condition is not serious. Medical personnel are providing all necessary assistance," Kobzar says.
According to Hryhorov, the injured are women aged 20 and 61, as well as men aged 60 and 76. They are currently under medical supervision.
In addition, a 45-year-old and a 42-year-old man who were near one of the Russian strike sites were injured. They received medical assistance on the spot.
"Buildings and cars were damaged. About 100 windows were broken in various locations throughout the city. The extent of the damage and all the consequences of the Russian attacks are being clarified. All relevant services are working at the scene," Kobzar says.
The head of the Regional Military Administration emphasizes that Russia has been striking the Sumy community since early morning, hitting civilian infrastructure. He also urges residents to stay in shelters, as the threat of further strikes remains.
Russian strikes on Sumy region
At around 3:10 a.m. Kyiv time today, February 17, Russia attacked the Kyrykiv community in the Sumy region with three drones. The homes of residents were hit.
A 68-year-old woman was killed as a result of a Russian strike. Her family — a 42-year-old son, a 40-year-old daughter-in-law, and their two sons, aged 7 and 15 — were injured. In a neighboring house, a 79-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man were injured.
In addition, Russians recently targeted a civilian car with a drone, in which a family was traveling — a man, a woman, and their daughter. All three were injured, and a 66-year-old woman suffered serious injuries.
