Russia launches overnight drone assault from seven directions: How air defense responded

Tonight, December 9, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 110 drones. The UAVs approached from seven directions, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
According to the military, starting at 18:00 on December 8, the enemy launched 110 Shahed and Gerbera-type drones, as well as other UAV models.
The launches were carried out from the directions of Bryansk, Oryol, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo (Russia), as well as from the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.
As clarified by the Air Force, about 70 of them were Shaheds.
The enemy attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defense shot down/suppressed 84 enemy UAVs of the Shahed and Gerbera types, as well as drones of other kinds, in the northern, southern, and eastern parts of the country.
Twenty-four strike UAV impacts were recorded at nine locations.
"The attack continues; there are several enemy UAVs in the airspace. Follow safety rules!" the Air Force warned.
Attack on Ukraine
As a result of the Russian attack on energy facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, more than 5,000 consumers in the Zaporizhzhia region were left without power.
