Russia launches massive Shahed drone attack on Odesa - First reports of damage and fires

On the night of February 12, Russia carried out a massive drone attack on Odesa and the surrounding district, according to the head of the Odesa regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, as well as the head of the Odesa city military administration, Serhii Lysak.
According to officials, Odesa and the Odesa district were targeted in the attack.
An air raid alert was declared in the Odesa district at approximately 00:08 AM Kyiv time. Later, at 00:19 AM Kyiv time, the head of the regional military administration urged residents of Odesa and the surrounding area to urgently remain in shelters due to the threat of strikes.

The Air Force warned about the movement of strike UAVs heading toward the Odesa region and later reported a large group approaching Odesa.
The air raid alert lasted nearly an hour. At 01:02 AM Kyiv time, the all-clear was announced.
Afterward, details about the consequences of the attack emerged. According to Oleh Kiper, Russia carried out a massive strike on the Odesa region using attack UAVs. Preliminary damage to residential infrastructure was recorded in the regional center. Fires also broke out as a result of the strikes.
The head of the city military administration, Serhii Lysak, reported damage to an infrastructure facility on his channel.
He later clarified that, in addition to the infrastructure facility, a business center also sustained damage.
According to preliminary information, one person was injured as a result of the attack. Medical personnel are providing the necessary assistance. Details about the victim’s condition have not been disclosed at this time.
Emergency services are working at the strike sites, with rescuers eliminating the consequences of the attack and assessing the extent of the damage.
Authorities have promised to release official data on the number of damaged buildings and the nature of the destruction after inspections are completed.
The Odesa region remains one of the regular targets of drone attacks, which Russia uses to strike civilian infrastructure.
