On May 13, Russia launched a combined air strike against Ukraine. The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) warns that the attack could last a long time and consist of several waves.
In the first wave of the attack, Russia deployed a significant number of strike drones. The goal is to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense system and strike civilian targets.
Following the drones, the HUR expects the use of air- and sea-launched cruise missiles, as well as ballistic missiles.
The following may be targeted:
- Energy facilities and critical infrastructure
- Enterprises of the defense-industrial complex
- Government buildings in major cities.
"In this way, Russia, which has rejected proposals for a ceasefire, seeks once again to undermine Ukraine’s resilience in the war for freedom," the statement reads.
On the morning of May 13, Russia had already attacked Ukraine with groups of drones, explosions were heard in several regions, and air defense systems were activated.
Explosions were also heard in Kyiv as Russian drones approached the capital, and Ukrainian air defense systems were working.
