Russia launches daytime missile and drone strikes on Ukraine: Air defense response
Russia launched new strikes on Ukraine's territory during the afternoon of Friday, January 3, using missiles and drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The attacks occurred between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and included various missile types:
- Five S-300 surface-to-air missiles targeting the Kursk region.
- Three Iskander-M ballistic missiles targeting the Chernihiv region.
- Three Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles targeting the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Additionally, the enemy used 32 Shahed strike drones and other decoy drones from the northeast.
As of 8:00 p.m., three missiles and 13 enemy drones were shot down. Another 19 drones were locationally lost.
Russian strikes on Ukraine
Today, air alert was declared several times in several regions of Ukraine. The last time the Air Force warned of a ballistic missile threat.
During this time, the Russian military launched a missile attack on the city of Chernihiv, resulting in one confirmed fatality and several injuries.
In addition, enemy drones targeted the Kyiv region. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted the Russian UAVs. However, one casualty was reported.
