Massive drone assault on Ukraine overnight: Defense forces react
On the night of November 19, Russia carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, launching 87 Shahed drones and unidentified UAVs. Russian forces attacked from the Kursk and Orel regions, as well as temporarily occupied Crimea, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
Ukraine responded with coordinated efforts, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups from the Air Force and Defense Forces.
As of 9:00 a.m., Kyiv time, Ukrainian forces confirmed the destruction of 51 enemy drones over the Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions.
As a result of active countermeasures, another 30 enemy drones were lost locally in various regions. One drone remains in Ukrainian airspace, and the combat work is ongoing.
Overnight attack on Ukraine
Kyiv experienced two air raid alerts overnight due to enemy drones.
Meanwhile, late on November 18, over 10 Russian drones targeted Zaporizhzhia, leaving more than 10,000 local consumers without electricity.
Furthermore, late at night, Russia struck a dormitory in Hlukhiv, the Sumy region, with drones. The attack resulted in eight killed victims.
