Russia launches 176 drones at Ukraine overnight, air defenses shoot down most

Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight with strike drones from six directions. Most enemy targets were shot down by air defenses, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"On the night of April 8, the enemy attacked with 176 strike UAVs of Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, and other types of drones from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk of Russia, Chauda – temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, about 120 of them were Shaheds," the Air Force said.
It is noted that the air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00, air defense shot down or suppressed 146 enemy UAVs of Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, and other drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
At the same time, hits of 24 strike UAVs were recorded at 12 locations, as well as the fall of downed enemy targets at one location.
"The attack continues, several enemy UAVs remain in the airspace. Follow safety rules," the Air Force added.
Attack on Ukraine on the night of April 8
Russian forces last night, April 8, attacked several regions of Ukraine with drones. In particular, explosions were reported in Poltava and Chernihiv regions, as well as in the south of Ukraine.
In addition, on the night of April 8, Russian Shaheds massively attacked the south of the Odesa region. As a result of the attack, the civilian and port infrastructure was damaged.
Rescuers promptly eliminated all fire outbreaks. 28 rescuers and seven units of equipment were involved in firefighting. A fire unit of the National Guard of Ukraine and a local fire team also worked at the scene.
