Russia has completely ignored the proposal for a full and lasting ceasefire. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized that the Kremlin has once again demonstrated its unwillingness to make peace.

Sybiha took part in an online meeting with the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, France, and the EU.

According to him, the key topics of the talks were a joint strategy for achieving peace and cooperation with the United States.

Before the meeting, the Minister received information from the frontline from the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

He said that Russia had completely ignored the proposal for a full and lasting ceasefire from May 12 and continued attacks along the entire front line.

"Moscow squanders another opportunity to put an end to the killings. This once again demonstrates that Russia's only goal is to prolong the war," he said.

Sybiha also recalled that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had offered Putin a personal meeting on May 15, but there has been no response from the Kremlin so far.

The participants of the meeting discussed the possibility of decisive measures in case of further sabotage by Moscow, including tougher sanctions against the Russian banking and energy sectors, as well as new defense aid packages for Ukraine.

"Putin must understand the consequences of rejecting peace efforts and continuing the war," Sybiha concluded.

Ceasefire proposal

On May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected a ceasefire proposal and offered to resume direct talks with Ukraine and hold a meeting on May 15 in Istanbul.

On the same day, Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared Ukraine's readiness for dialogue, but stressed that a confirmed ceasefire, which was to begin on May 12, was a prerequisite.

At the same time, Türkiye officially declared its readiness to mediate between Ukraine and Russia.
