Russia hits Chernivtsi, Zelenskyy announces changes in the government - Weekend brief

On Saturday night, the Russian military launched a combined attack on Chernivtsi for the first time. On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced changes in the government.

Attack on Ukraine on July 12
On the night of July 12, Russia launched a massive attack on most regions of Ukraine. A large part of Ukraine came under fire, including the Kharkiv, Lviv, Volyn, Chernivtsi, and Donetsk regions.
Chernivtsi
For the first time during the full-scale war, the city was subjected to a combined attack. One of the shells hit an apartment building.
According to the latest reports, two people were killed and more than 20 others were injured.
After the attack, patrol officers were the first to arrive at the damaged building. They not only helped the wounded, but also evacuated the residents with their pets.
Kharkiv
The enemy fired at least ten strikes at the city. The Russians used eight attack drones and two guided aerial bombs. One of the Shahed drones hit critical infrastructure.
According to the latest reports, two people were injured.
Lviv
A drone destroyed the entrance of a residential building, causing a gas leak. Dozens of buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged.
There are victims, including children.
Lutsk
The strike completely destroyed a private house, and other buildings were damaged. Rescuers continue to work at the scene.
Donetsk region
Russians attacked with Tornado-S MLRS. The strike killed one person and wounded three others. Administrative and industrial buildings and dozens of cars were destroyed.

Changes in the Cabinet of Ministers
A few weeks ago, RBC-Ukraine's sources from the Servant of the People party said that changes in the government could take place in mid-July. The preliminary dates for the vote were July 15-17.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said yesterday that Ukraine needs new steps in managing the country's defense sector.
This statement was made after a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. He promised decisions on this matter soon.
Shortly before that, the president admitted that Umerov could head the Ukrainian embassy in the United States after the current ambassador, Oksana Markarova, leaves the post.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine published a full list of changes that could be approved.
RBC-Ukraine's sources said that a new government in Ukraine may appear as early as this week and may be headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
