Deadly night in Ukraine's Chernivtsi: Russian combined attack kills two, injures 26

Russia carried out a combined strike on the city of Chernivtsi overnight on July 12, leaving two people dead and dozens injured, informs Ruslan Zaparaniuk, head of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration.
According to Zaparaniuk, two civilians were killed in Chernivtsi as a result of the Russian strike:
- 43-year-old Sviatoslav Lazarenko, an employee of the Sniatyn City Council in Ivano-Frankivsk region;
- 26-year-old Diana Kravchenko, the manager of a pharmacy in Chernivtsi.

The head of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration expressed his condolences to the victims' families and gave further details during a national telethon.
"She was a young woman who was inside a building during the missile strike. And the 43-year-old man was driving along our main street when he was fatally wounded by debris after part of a missile fell," Zaparaniuk said.
According to updated information, the number of injured has risen to 26.
"Seven remain in the hospital. Three are in serious condition. Four have already undergone surgery," he added.
Russian overnight attack on Chernivtsi
Russian forces launched a massive attack on Chernivtsi during the night of July 12, causing fires, heavy destruction, and civilian casualties in the city and surrounding areas.
Russia used both missiles and attack drones in the strike. The attack hit residential buildings, administrative offices, non-operational structures, and civilian vehicles. Fires broke out in three parts of the city, but emergency crews quickly extinguished the flames.
Earlier in the morning, local authorities reported 15 people injured.
Chernivtsi has declared July 13 a Day of Mourning for those killed in the attack. All public events in the city have been canceled.
