Ukraine's DTEK energy company showed the destruction of energy facilities in the Odesa region, which were attacked by Russian occupiers on New Year's Eve. The destruction caused by Russia's terrorist attacks on the facilities is enormous.
On New Year's Eve, Russians carried out drone attacks on two power facilities in the Odesa region. These facilities supply power to some residents of the Prymorskyi and Khadzhybeyskyi districts of Odesa.
"The consequences of the Russian attack are enormous. On New Year's Eve, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire at the substations, and after receiving permission from the military, power engineers began to work," the statement says.
Power engineers worked even on New Year's Eve to restore the power supply. As of January 2, after several days of intense work, it was possible to partially restore the power supply to the residents. Currently, there are no scheduled power outages in the Odesa region.
"However, there may be network restrictions in the Odesa district of the region, particularly in Odesa. These are forced emergency power outages in the event of a sharp increase in electricity consumption to prevent overloading of equipment damaged by Russian attacks," the company adds.
Due to Russian terrorist attacks on New Year's Eve 2026, Odesa's energy workers spent the holiday at work. The DTEK team restored power after another series of Russian attacks that left tens of thousands of Odesa residents without electricity.
On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025, the Russians carried out several drone attacks on Odesa, resulting in a series of emergencies in the city. The Russian strikes caused drones and debris to fall, fires to break out at infrastructure facilities, and damage to residential buildings.
In total, Russia attacked Ukraine on New Year's Eve with 205 strike drones. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down most of the Russian drones.
