The Russian authorities have not changed their demands for ending the war against Ukraine. In particular, they want a reduction in the Ukrainian army, according to the evening address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"We know that the Russians have not changed their positions and demands regarding Ukraine," the head of state noted.

According to him, Russia will demand:

  • a reduction in the Ukrainian army;
  • Ukraine’s legal renunciation of its territories;
  • significant political deformation of Ukraine by weakening the Ukrainian Constitution.

The president emphasized that as long as everyone in Ukraine stands together, no one will succeed in enforcing such conditions, and peace will be achieved with dignity.

Russia's demands for ending the war

Russian officials have repeatedly stated that they are willing to discuss ending the war against Ukraine based on the so-called Istanbul Agreement.

This agreement, in particular, includes a reduction in the Ukrainian army and other significant concessions from Ukraine.

Recently, US Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff suggested that such an agreement could serve as a framework for ending the war.
