Russia fails to break through in Ukraine's Pokrovsk and Chasiv Yar - Zelenskyy

Intense fighting continues in the Donetsk region for Pokrovsk and Chasiv Yar. However, Ukrainian defenders are repelling every Russian attempt to advance, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address.
According to the President, today he received a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian units are holding their positions in the Pokrovsk direction.
"It is important that our soldiers are destroying Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups — small units that constantly try to break into the city, constantly trying to gain a foothold there. This is Russian tactics, and our response is the destruction of the enemy," he said.
The President also addressed the Russian disinformation about the capture of Chasiv Yar.
"Ukrainian units are defending our positions, and every Russian attempt to advance — in Donetsk, in Sumy, in Kharkiv — is ultimately being repelled. And this is not easy, but it is the defense of Ukrainians' very right to life. Each of these directions is extremely important," Zelenskyy noted.
Russia announces capture of Chasiv Yar
On July 31, Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed to have captured the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. The Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group mocked the Russian statements and denied their falsehoods.
"The situation in Chasiv Yar is the same as in recent months. The Russians are simply lying again precisely so that it spreads even in the form of denials," a spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational Group told RBC-Ukraine.
Additionally, the Armed Forces of Ukraine commented on the Russian "performances" in Chasiv Yar.
